The global push for net-zero emissions requires urgent transformations in energy systems, critical mineral supply chains, and construction practices.

As the demand for renewable energy, battery storage, and electric vehicles (EVs) rises, so does the need for critical minerals such as lithium, nickel, cobalt, and rare earth elements (REEs).

However, their extraction and refining processes contribute significantly to emissions, raising the question: How can we decarbonize these supply chains while ensuring a sustainable energy transition?
This talk explores strategies for reducing emissions across the energy and infrastructure sectors.

It examines circular economy scenarios, including mineral substitution, battery recycling, and policy interventions that can mitigate environmental impacts.

The presentation also highlights how innovations in low-carbon building materials—such as geopolymers and bioreactors—can significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the built environment while enhancing infrastructure resilience.
