Murdoch University celebrates 25 years in Singapore, launching new campus

17 January 2025

Murdoch University and its partner Kaplan have opened a new Singapore campus called Odeon 333 City Campus, as the University celebrates 25 years of delivering quality education to students in Singapore.

Murdoch is now the second largest foreign university operating in Singapore, with more than 25,000 graduates.

Located opposite the iconic Raffles Hotel, the new Odeon 333 City Campus spans three levels, offering thoughtfully designed study areas and classrooms that promote learning and innovation in a tech-driven landscape.

Facilities such as a simulation lab, high-capacity computer labs, a wellness room and reference room are designed to enhance the overall student experience and support student well-being.

Pro Vice-Chancellor Transnational Education and Singapore Dean for Murdoch University Professor Peter Waring said the new campus sets the University up for strong growth in coming years.

“We are poised to produce an additional 18,000 Murdoch University graduates in Singapore over the next 15 years and we are committed to shaping a future where education transcends borders,” Professor Waring said.

Vice Chancellor Professor Andrew Deeks said the growth of Murdoch’s presence in Singapore has led to this new chapter and comes as the University’s main campus in Perth celebrates 50 years since the arrival of its first cohort of students in 1975.

“Over the past five decades, Murdoch has grown from a single campus in Perth to a university with a global presence,” Professor Deeks said.

“We began with a culture of critical thinking, nurturing a community of scholars who are dedicated to making a positive impact – and with a commitment to academic excellence – and this has not changed today.

“As we embark on this new chapter in Singapore, we reaffirm our commitment to international partnerships, and we look forward to building a brighter future in Singapore for a long time to come.”

From the early 2000s Murdoch partnered with the Singapore Manufacturing Federation to deliver education services, but this relationship came to an end before a new and highly successful partnership with Kaplan Singapore began in 2010.

In 2024 Murdoch signed a significant extension agreement with Kaplan to continue the partnership for a further 15 years.

Murdoch University and Kaplan have since worked closely to introduce and offer a comprehensive range of Bachelor and Postgraduate degree programs across many varied disciplines. The new campus reflects Kaplan and Murdoch’s shared commitment to advancing education and collaboration.

The Odeon 333 City Campus inauguration was held on Friday 17 January 2025 and attended by Denise Phua, Mayor of Central Singapore District, and His Excellency Allaster Cox, Australian High Commissioner to Singapore, who officiated the event with a symbolic LED ball lighting ceremony.
